The First Remebot RM-200 Robotic Complex in Central Asia Will Enable Up to 750 High-Tech Neurosurgical Surgeries Annually for Residents of East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, and Abai Regions

The first neurosurgical operations using the new Remebot RM-200 robotic system, equipped with an integrated navigation system and artificial intelligence technologies, were performed at the Mother and Child Center of East Kazakhstan Region in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The equipment, valued at over KZT 433 million, was purchased within the charitable activities of the Samruk-Kazyna Group with the support of its sole charity operator, the Samruk-Kazyna Trust Foundation.

The neurosurgical robot was delivered and installed on September 9. Specialists completed the commissioning and setup procedures to prepare the equipment for clinical use.

On September 10, the first two surgeries were performed at the Mother and Child Center by leading neurosurgeon Azamat Zhailganov. Neurosurgeons and center specialists from various regions are currently attending his master class.

The new system allows for precise pre-operative planning before the patient is placed on the operating table. Combining 3D planning, navigation, and AI technologies, specialists use CT and MRI results to predetermine the most optimal surgical approach. The robot does not perform the surgery independently; all surgical procedures are executed by the physician.

The launch of the complex significantly expands access to neurosurgical care in the region.

"We express our gratitude to the Samruk-Kazyna Trust Foundation for their support in purchasing the neurosurgical robot. Today, we are performing the first two surgeries. Overall, approximately 450 patients in East Kazakhstan Region require neurosurgical procedures annually. Including the needs of Pavlodar and Abai regions, this figure reaches 750–800 operations per year. The new system will substantially enhance public access to modern, specialized, high-tech medical care," noted Assel Aidarkhanova, Deputy Director of the Mother and Child Center of EKR.

Crucially, the new equipment will serve children and other patients requiring complex neurosurgical treatment for conditions such as epilepsy, tumors, and other nervous system disorders. Residents can now receive a significant portion of this care locally in East Kazakhstan without traveling to other regions.

Center specialists highlight that the robotic complex increases pre-operative precision and navigation accuracy, broadening the scope of neurosurgical procedures performed at the facility.

The installation and commissioning of this equipment reflect the ongoing commitment of the Samruk-Kazyna Group to systematically support healthcare. Since 2016, through its sole charity operator, the Samruk-Kazyna Trust Foundation, seven healthcare projects totaling KZT 1.2 billion have been implemented in East Kazakhstan Region.

Over the past 10 years, the Foundation has supported 25 social projects in the region worth a total of KZT 1.9 billion. These initiatives focus on healthcare, education, vocational guidance, support for vulnerable populations, regional development, social entrepreneurship, and grassroots sports.
