Volunteers of the social charity project “Zhenis” assisted 640 veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers from 35 cities of Kazakhstan. By the end of the year, it is planned to provide more than 1,500 participants of the Second World War and home front workers with social help and household assistance throughout the country.

During the quarantine period, volunteers deliver essential food items. Particular attention is paid to those people who live alone or need help due to their health and social status. At the same time, all precautionary measures dictated by the quarantine conditions are observed: contactless delivery, maintaining the distance, medical masks and gloves.

The project is implemented by the «Samruk-Kazyna Trust» Social Project Development Foundation together with the Social Project Fund of «Kazakhstan Temir Zholy» NK JSC on behalf of the entire group of companies of «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC. The volunteer ranks include employees of the «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC group of companies and active citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"Today, 200 volunteers from among the employees of the portfolio companies of «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC are involved in the project and we invite all concerned citizens of the country who want to help veterans and home front workers of the Great Patriotic War to join us," says the official representative of the «Samruk-Kazyna Trust» Foundation Miras Irgebaev.

The goal of the «Zhenis» project is to provide systematic assistance and social and household support to veterans and home front workers. Volunteers help the elderly with household chores: they clean the house and yard, buy food and medicine, and talk with them. Over the 5 years the project has existed, more than 10,000 volunteer raids have been carried out for veterans and home front workers.

“I came to «Zhenis» project this year and I am very happy to become part of a large-scale volunteer movement. My team currently has 18 people, we regularly conduct raids and have already visited more than 40 veterans and home front workers in Almaty. Under quarantine, the work of volunteers has become one of the most significant. Helping the veterans, supporting them, empathizing and taking care of them is a vocation that accustoms me to creation”, - said the project coordinator of «Zhenis» in Almaty, the wagon carriage movement safety inspector of «KTZ - Freight Transportation» JSC - Almaty Branch GP "Diaz Baigonusov.

In 2020, the movement will also be continued to provide free railway travel for veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers born no later than December 31, 1935, across Kazakhstan and the CIS countries. To issue a ticket, you must contact the railway ticket office and have the original document proving the identity and identity of the participant or disabled person of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers - a pension certificate with a note on the appointment of special state benefits. You can take advantage of the promotion right after the quarantine mode will end.
